So I snagged the computer I had in the garage. Took and installed Boxee on it. Works great as a media player which is what I was looking for. It adds all all the information regarding movies and TV series from IMDB and TVDB respectively.
http://www.boxee.tv/It's based off of the XBMC code base but I like the interface better. The big reason I chose to go with Boxee over XBMC is that it lets you stream Hulu, Comedy Central, YouTube, CNN, Apple Moive Trailers and a few other online services. It supports pictures and music as well, but I haven't messed with them so I can't really say anything about that. The only issue I have with it is that the text is a bit hard to read, but that's due to me using a good ole 24" tube TV. It would probably be more readable on an nice flat panel TV.
I have it setup on a WIndows XP box, with a 1.7GHz P4, 512 MB of RAM and a GeForce FX 5200. It doesn't really need alot of hardware to run. It is available for OSX, Ubuntu and Windows. I tried Ubuntu at first but after fucking with the video drivers for a few hours I couldn't get it to run quite good so I said fuck it and put Windows XP on it.
All in all Thumbs Fucking Up - thought it is in alpha
